Note: Every printing of this dance, from edition 4 through 18, had what appears to be the steps for the first B section appended to the bottom. It does not fit anywhere else, so it has been placed in the first verse.
I.
A1 1-4: Lead up all and back.
A2 1-4: That again.
B 1-4: 1st Man put back your Woman then fall back into the 2nd place.
B 5-8: That back again.
II.
A1 1-4: 1st Couple cast off into the 2nd Couple’s place.
A2 1-4: Cast back up again.
B 1-4: 1st Couple cross over and go down behind the 2nd Couple.
B 5-8: Give one clap with your hands, and turn your Partner once around by both hands.
Repeat down the line.
III.
A1 1-4: 1st Man cast off and cross over, the 1st Woman following him, ending in the 2nd Couple’s place improper.
A2 1-4: 1st Man take the 2nd Woman by the left hand, and lead her between the 1st Woman and the 2nd Man, then both cast off and go back to the same place.
B 1-4: 1st Man take the 1st Woman and lead her up the middle, then both cast off into the 2nd place.
B 5-8: Then turn each other halfway around.
Repeat down the line.
